Renowned sculptor Russ Faxon grew up in Bowling Green, KY and earned his bachelor’s degree in Art Education from Western Kentucky University. He studied the fine art of bronze casting at the Mariani Foundry in Italy and his works have been displayed throughout the United States and internationally. Faxon’s works capture the expression, emotion, and spirit of the human figure. His works at the park include the touching tribute to Ward Anderson at the park entrance and the Daffodil sculpture at the head of the walking trail.
Sherri Warner Hunter earned her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and an MA from Claremont Graduate University in California, both with an emphasis in sculpture and drawing. Hunter has authored two books on mosaic and concrete sculpting and teaches workshops throughout the U.S. and internationally. Her large-scale public artworks are installed throughout the country. The Ward Anderson Playground prominently features her playful sculpture of a lobster, a representation of Ward’s favorite toy.
